Dune isn’t on HBO Max, but it’s coming to Imax and Blu-ray soon

If you were too busy to watch a two and a half hour sci-fi epic described by some as “bored“and incomplete (it covered only half of your two-part story), don’t worry. Dune of Denis Villeneuve has left HBO Max, but the sci-fi show will hit digital platforms in December and will be available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K in January. Or you’ll get another chance to see it on the bigger screen, as it returns to Imax theaters next week.

Will Dune be on HBO Max?

Dune hit HBO Max the same day it hit theaters: October 21. However, as with all simultaneous HBO Max releases, also known as day and date releases, it was available for only one month. That month is over, but it will return sometime next year, once home entertainment releases are out of the way.

Where can I watch Dune now that it’s not on HBO Max?

If you want to see Dune on the big screen, he will return to Imax screens on December 3.

If you prefer a smaller screen in the comfort of your home, it is available on participating digital platforms, probably Apple TV Plus, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, and YouTube Movies, also on December 3, for $ 30. You can also rent it for $ 25.

The planet Arrakis is home to the most valuable substance in the universe. It’s called a spice or melange.

What does the spice do? It is a powerful drug that can prolong human life and give people superhuman mind control powers. It can also allow intergalactic travelers to “fold space” and travel faster than the speed of light.

Who does Zendaya play?

Let’s touch the other characters.

• Zendaya basically plays Paul’s love interest, a mysterious woman with bright blue eyes named Chani. He lives on the planet Arrakis, part of the native Fremen tribes.
• Oscar Isaac plays Paul’s father, Duke Leto Atreides. Rebecca Ferguson plays her mother, Lady Jessica.
• The two warriors Gurney Halleck and Duncan Idaho who train Paul in combat are played by Josh Brolin and Jason Momoa.
• Stilgar, the leader of the Fremen, is played by Javier Bardem.
• Stellan Skarsgard plays Baron Vladimir, the leader of House Harkonnen of Arrakis. They are in conflict with the Atreides family.
• Charlotte Rampling plays the reverend mother of an order of women called the Bene Gesserit. They can read and control the mind.

Let’s tackle David Lynch’s 1984 adaptation

David Lynch directed an adaptation of Dune, released in 1984. Starring Kyle MacLachlan as Paul Atreides.

While it may have finally achieved cult status, it was a box office and critical failure upon release.

Dune de Villeneuve is not a remake of Lynch’s review, which promises to establish a closer connection to its original material: Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel of the same name.

“Lynch is a teacher” Villeneuve told CNET in October. “It’s just about that book that was by my bedside for 40 years, and the ideas that I love about the book weren’t on the screen yet, so that’s why I read it again.”

Dune: the second part is one thing

Technically, the movie you’ll see later this year is Dune: Part One.

Warner Bros. showed the first 10 minutes in Imax special event screenings and the title logo read Dune: Part One. This was great news for those hoping for a sequel. Richard Trenholm, critic of CNET, lamented that the first part leaves a lot to do at the end, which really puts pressure on Warner Bros. to fund a follow-up.

Fortunately, The first part is a great success – heading to $ 100 million at the United States box office – so a the sequel has received the go-ahead for 2023.
