KARACHI: The Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) claimed on Monday to have arrested a suspect involved in the illegal ‘hundi and hawala’ business in Lahore, ARY News reported.
According to the details, the FIA team raided an office of a currency exchange company in the Lahore Gulberg area and arrested the owner of the branch, Altaf Nomi.
The FIA team also recovered national and foreign currency from the position.
At the beginning of the month, the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) had arrested a suspect involved in the illegal business of ‘hawala, hundi’.
The arrest was made by the Karachi DHA Phase 2 Extension FIA anti-corruption circle team, while local and foreign currency were also recovered from custody.
“$ 250,000 and other foreign currency were confiscated from the custody of the defendant, who had been working as a manager in the ‘hawala, hundi’ office,” said FIA Director Aamir Farooqi.
Furthermore, the Federal Investigative Agency, in early September, claimed to have captured at least five men in multiple raids in Karachi who, according to the agency, were involved in hundi / hawala money deals (laundering cases).
